Law-related Education Publications

The State Bar of Wisconsin offers a variety of law-related education resources to assist educators at all grade levels with civics curriculum enhancement. Adventures in Law
This comic book explains the lawyer's role in the legal system by following six new lawyers into their very different practices. The publication is aimed at elementary students and includes a word search and matching activities. A teacher's guide is available upon request.
On Being 18: Your Legal Rights and Responsibilities
This booklet focuses on the changes in legal rights and responsibilities that occur when one is considered an adult at the age 18. The purpose is to inform you of your rights and to help you recognize and avoid possible problems.

Pioneers in the Law: The First 150 Women
In 1998, in conjunction with Wisconsin’s Sesquicentennial year, the State Bar of Wisconsin honored the first 150 women admitted to the Wisconsin Bar. This video chronicles the stories of some of these remarkable women. Many of these women over came almost insurmountable odds establishing themselves at a time when women were discourage, and in some cases prevented, from practicing law. 90-page book also available.

Teens in the Law
This booklet provides parents with basic information about the laws that have the greatest impact on families. Specific topics include: criminal law, juvenile court proceedings, general parental rights and responsibilities along with laws regarding school attendance, marriage and pregnancy.

The Bill of Rights: An Introduction
This publication is designed for use in classrooms and public forums to give the public an appreciation of the impact the Bill of Rights plays in the life of this nation. The first eight amendments limit the power of government, the ninth suggests that rights other than those listed also may exist, and the tenth underlines the fact that the national government exercises only powers granted to it under the U.S. Constitution.
